TAIT Mechanical Design Internship

During the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to complete an internship as a Mechanical Design Engineer at TAIT in Lititz, Pennsylvania. I had ownership of several sections of a large scenic permanent installation, and it was my responsibility to design parts in AutoCAD and communicate across disciplines to ensure that they fit the client requirements and were feasible to be fabricated and installed. I also led a team that was tasked with determining a way to safely transport the large scenic pieces across the country, which required extensive communication and research with numerous departments to find out what types of shipping carts we had available, how many requirements each piece had in order to protect the paint, and the best way to arrange the pieces so that the integration team could efficiently assemble it on site. I also designed for a large sporting event, and I got to experience rotations with other departments including scenic design and project integration.
